Lovely day here in Camden, Maine; spring has finally arrived. Local signs of spring are of course the lovely daffodils, azaleas, forsythia and magnolia trees which are now in bloom. Warmer weather activities are: hiking up Mt Battie and Mt Megunticook; walking the Rockland Breakwater which leads to the lighthouse and exploring the many rocky/sandy harbor beaches. Seas are still rough so folks are finding lots of sea glass, urchin shells, and interesting driftwood while walking the sandy beaches. Another sure sign that summer is on it’s way are all of the weekend garage sales where many treasures are being found; I happened to pick up a great bird cage … now for the bird! Of course we cannot forget baseball and softball for all ages and the opening of The Smiling Cow on Main Street in Camden with its great gift items and homemade fudge. Nothing is better on a hot day (or anytime) than homemade ice cream from Dorman’s Ice Cream in Thomaston; homemade ginger ice cream is a real treat!
